If you’re accosted getting onto a train or bus heading towards Dublin this week, more that likely it will be one of the Chamber’s staff who are tapping you on the shoulder.
The survey you see alongside here is designed to tease out whom, from where, and in what sectors, commuters are traveling to the capital to work.
Crucially the Chamber want o ascertain the appetite those commuters would have to redeploy their skills to Dundalk-based work, to avoid the daily journey and carve out more time for family and leisure. If the survey reveals loads of interest in staying in the North-East for work, it’s proposed to establish an online register which should reinforce the case for investors to locate here.
We’d want you to use the web site www.dundalkchamber.ie to complete this very short survey doc; you will see the survey log-on top right of the front page. The results will not be made available, but will be presented in aggregate form to the agencies, as and when investor interests arrive into town.
Not that many years ago, this would have been a no-brainer exercise, but fortunes have changed dramatically. Gateway status, and of the 9, it’s the one in pole position to deliver the doubling of population by 2020, so, please get connected and let us know if you’d want to be in the van to work local, your interest will be a powerful tool to fuel the agencies’ job-finding impetus.
If you would like to complete the survey online log on to www.dundalkchamber.ie and click in to the box “Want to stop commuting- want to work in Dundalk?”
